We will have the "History Walk" again this year on May Ist as a part of Hike/Bike/Run. This Walk begins at 8:a.m. at the Hike/Bike/Run Opening Ceremony. The "Hike Through History" is 1.4 miles in length and takes about two hours.
We will bus you from the opening ceremony to the Langdale Mill and then you will walk to the historic spots. You will have a guided tour of Langdale Mill, Sears Hall, The Iron Bridge, The Boat Landing, Langdalie Cemetery, Lanier Park and Bridge District, The Cotton Duck, LaFayette Lanier School and Auditorium and The Boy Scout House. At the end of the tour you will be bused back to Valley Haven. If there is enough interest, we will also bus people for a short tour of The Fairfax Depot.
Note: Itinerary subject to change.
Call Tony Edmondson or Robert Hale at Valley Haven, 756-7801 if you need more information, or e-mail us at valleyhaven@charterinternet.com
Pledge Information:
Here's what we ask you to do. If you raise $100.00 each to participate, the state and federal matching funds will net the school around $500.00 because of your efforts. When you ask for your pledge, do not collect the money. Ask the person for their "mailing address" and we will send them a bill after Hike/Bike/Run.
Click here for Pledge Form for all Events.
You can turn in your forms on Thursday or Friday, April 30Ih or May 1st at Valley Haven, or there will be someone at a special table labeled "History Tour" at Valley Haven's parking lot on Saturday morning of Hike/Bike Day. When you register we will give you a Hike/Bike/Run t-shirt and button. If you want to wear your shirt or button early, just come by Valley Haven any day between 7:00 and 3:30 to register. Be at Valley Haven byJ7:30.a.m. on Saturday morning, May 1st, so you can board the bus after the Opening Ceremony.
You'll have fun, you will learn about our Valley, but most of all you'll feel good about yourself.
GET INVOLVED...Get your pledges. Remember top money raisers can qualify for prizes-but most of all, because of your efforts, Valley Haven students can hope for a better quality of life.
For those who would prefer a more conventional walk, we still have the one mile or five mile walk.
